Cultivating Strength and Flexibility:

A Dynamic Approach to Posture

Practical Exercise

Let's now proceed to our first practical exercise, which can be performed anytime during your day-to-day activities, whether you're at your desk or walking. Take a moment to visualize this exercise with me.

Begin by focusing on the base of your spine, in the lower lumbar region. Visualize it as powerful, solid, and strong, like the sturdy trunk of a tree supporting you. Now, imagine planting a seed at this base, any kind of seed you prefer.

Instead of watering it, take a deep breath in, and as you do so, visualize the seed opening and a stem sprouting from it. This stem runs through your spine, reaching all the way up to the top of your head. As it grows, the roots of the plant extend downward, going through your legs and into your feet, firmly grounding you.

Take a moment to notice how this exercise might have affected your posture.

It's essential to understand that the body and breath are dynamic and interconnected. The traditional "shoulders back" mentality can create rigidity, whereas true strength is more flexible and adaptable.

So, instead of forcing your posture, envision planting that seed in your back and allow the breath to nurture its growth. This approach fosters a more organic and fluid strength within you.
